Positivity is infectious
How do you wake up every morning?
Is it with a half glass full feeling?
Ok now don’t get me wrong, I am not a morning person, so finding me happy and chirpy with a isn’t life wonderful outlook is NOT going to happen! Not until I have had at least 3 coffees anyway!
No, I am talking about ‘I can’ instead of ‘I can’t ‘
But WHY is this so important?
Indulge me in a little history:
3 years ago I had a nervous breakdown! At my worst getting out of bed was an achievement, positivity – well that did not exist for me! I struggled to survive, I had to because of my children but I hid from everyone the severity of what I was feeling. I guess being a performer came in handy because few new the true extent of my depression.
3 years on – I am a different woman, my nervous anxiety I don’t think will ever leave me but I manage it. I am much happier, more confident and self-assured than I have ever been.
So why the little detour into my struggles?
It’s simple. Positivity – even when I didn’t feel like saying it, is what helped me turn my life around. So here are a few things that can help you bring positivity into your lives even in the darkest of hours!
Thank you – to who or what is your choice, but every morning say thank you, be grateful to have another day on this beautiful planet, to have your health, your family…whatever you choose to be grateful for in that moment….but say thank you.
Reverse your words – I can’t becomes I can. I will achieve… (remember for me at times it was getting out of bed!)
“I can do this” 4 simple words, with such power…. I can do this… say this every morning, make it a habit like brushing your teeth. I can do this – you don’t even need to finish the sentence, just those 4 words will start your day in such a positive way.
There will always be things we don’t know or don’t understand or need to learn. Things that may stress you or you keep putting on the back burner because you can’t find the heart to start it. Life throws us curve balls and often it can be really hard to see the wood for the trees. But as someone once told me “this is a storm in a teacup” many things are storms in teacups and they WILL pass and things WILL get better – but in that moment when you are in the thick of the storm - finding an element of positivity WILL help.
So take those challenges, tackle those goals and keep chipping away at them.
“I can do this”
